This seems to have just begun last week. I haven't changed anything, that I can think of. I am not sure if it is just IMessages because that is primarily all I send.
When in the edit field to type a new message or when doing edits, There is about a 2-second lag between tapping the screen and it speaking the input. This is whether entering a letter or reading a word. I have looked at my phone and there is over 4gb of free space on a 16gb IPhone 5 running the latest updates. Verizon.
