1Gb from a binary perspective is 2^30, which is 1024^3; but for simplicity, we use the ISO metric which is 10^9. k/M/G are all steps of 10^3.
To get the full binary definition is quite a useful bonus, but shouldn't count on it. I learnt Booleann algebra too,... once.
