Thanks, Cara, I am not against knowing if a notification, text or email
comes in during a call, but I'd rather check it after I am done with my call
rather than having to ask the other person to hold on a moment until I shut
up my phone because I can't hear what they are saying any more behind
Voiceover. If I am so keen to check out immediately what just came in, let's
do it manually, i.e. I can take my phone while I am chatting and bring up
the notification centre to see what super important message just came in. As
Cara said and I did as well, let's just ask Apple to make this an option, I
am almost sure it can be done. If this were to become an option I bet that 8
or 9 out of 10 people eventually would turn off the automatic speaking. just
saying and yes, I know you don't agree, David, you and one other person
would just be those exceptions *smile*.

Regards,

Sieghard

For what it's worth, I completely agree with Sieghard here.

I think there should be a setting to turn off any automatic reading of
VoiceOver or a gesture to do this. Perhaps this could be a rotor setting to
make this available on demand.

I see both sides of this issue. I understand we need to hear VO alert us of
important incoming announcements while at the same time we need a way for VO
to stay out of the way at times, as well.

Thanks and have a great day y'all!

Smiles,

Cara :)

When I get a phone call, before I do a 2 finger double tap to answer the
call, I just do a 3 finger double tap to turn speech off so even if you do
get an alert VO won't be on to read it to you. Just remember after the call
is over to do the 3 finger double tap to turn speech back on.
