Exactly, I spend most of my time on Linux, and when I'm not in Linux,
I'm in IOS or Windows, so iCloud wouldn't help me too much. I did read
where another service provider has been working on a Google Reader API
replacement, but who knows how open it'll be and if the other clients
will be able to switch to it.
I doubt the petitions will have much effect with Google. I'm sure
they're trying to drive traffic to their other social networking
services, like Google Plus.

And while other solutions exist, Google has the infrastructure to pull
something like this off. It takes a lot of bandwidth and server power to

have to pay for. And who knows, I guess if enough people keep signing
those petitions, perhaps Google will reconsider.

I've only had Feeddler Pro & Google reader for a few Months or so, but
now that I have the hang of it, I've greatly enjoyed it.

Google's been doing a bit of house cleaning of late, closing
services. But I think they're underestimated just how much reaction
shutting Reader down was going to cause.
