Not sure if anyone has answered this question yet. I contacted Apple Support specifically about this issue, and they confirmed that it is a problem with the new iOS 26 update and VoiceOver. Visually, the badge number does appear, but VoiceOver does not verbalize it. Apple is aware of the issue and stated that it will be corrected in a future iOS update. When I was on 26, it seemed like it said there were 6 tabs, but there never was a sixth tab. Sometimes, the recents said Calls, instead of recents. But it has been pretty normal for me. Have you rebooted the phone? And I assume you are not on a beta. If this keeps up, I'd contact Apple Accessibility.
