Hello Richard,

You are right in what you're saying, I would never just use a password.
I live in a large city, and when I am out rather in a store or restaurant there
are always people around, and those people could very well hear Voiceover
reading my password as I am swiping from one number to another, so they can
grab my phone, and enter my password that they just heard me entering on my
phone.
There are always people watching other people by the ATM machines as well, as
people are taking cash out of their bank account.
So to me by not using face ID or finger print, someone is asking for trouble.
Just some food for thought.

Kindly,

Janet.

The only risk of just using a passcode is that if someone gets your passcode,
they can unlock your phone.
So, if you are using at least a 6 digit passcode and you are confident that it
would be very hard to guess, then you can just use the passcode.

The Face ID is not going to necessarily work 100% of the time.
If you reboot, or if the phone thinks it has been rebooted, it will require the
passcode.

If Attention Aware is on under the Face ID and Passcode settings, you will have
a much harder time unlocking it with Face ID.

Subject: face ID and passcode

Hi all. This may seem a stupid question, I have not been using either face ID
or a passcode, and realize that there is some risk if someone else gets hold of
my phone. Other than my contact list I don't have sensitive information on the
phone, I've tried setting up face ID on my iphone 13 mini with no success.
Also, when it did work I still was asked for my passcode. Is there an
advantage to not use face ID but still use a passcode?
God bless!
