It does, but not by that much if you have the right MagSafe charging stand and in my opinion the convenience of such a stand especially if you also have an Apple Watch or a set of Airpods or both can't be beat. You can invest in a good 3-in-1 stand like a Belkin Boost Pro or one of the ESR which also have a tiny fan built into them which makes sure the iPhone stays cool while charging (they are so quiet you have to put your ear right next to it to hear it) and all you have on your desk is 1 charging stand which charges all your devices. If you get the ESR which is actually called I think a 6-in-1 also has 1 USB-A and 1 USB-C port on the side of the base so you could plug in a short cable and also charge something like another headset or speaker and all the power comes from just 1 plugged in charging stand. For me another advantage is that I like to use wired Earpods and by using one of these stands which keep my iPhone suspended a few inches above the desk or side table allows me to plug in my USB-C wired Earpods while my phone is charging. The phone is also at a comfortable height and angle to use it, it's sort of like it's being held in a convenient position and I can just reach out with one hand and use the phone. Lastly I find I charge my iPhone a lot more in between instead of just waiting for the battery to go down all the way to 20% or less and with today's Lithium batteries it is recommended to charge when the battery is down to 40% or 30% and then to charge it to 80% or 85% instead of all the way to 100%. If I use my iPhone during the day while I am at my desk and I notice the battery is getting down to below 40% or 50% I can just reach over and stick the phone to my charging stand and inside 20 or 30 minutes I am back up to between 80% and 90%, no picking up a cable and plugging it in etc.

Well, believe it or not, there are still some users who charge their iPhones using cables and don't care about wireless charging or mag safe compatibility.
