Mary, I do not have the ecobee light. However, I do have the ecobee premium plus. The only thing I can think of is you may not be connected to WiFi. Unfortunately, This cannot be done using the app. You have to connect to WiFi through the settings on the thermostat. I have found no way to do this without sighted assistance.
