Just to revisit: I opened the Alexa app and tapped the devices tab. The impassable screen appeared and I then turned off VO and tapped approx 3 quarters of an inch above the home button and when I turned VO back on I was past that annoying screen with the got it button that voiceover doesn't recognize.
