When I had an iPhone 11 at work, I found Face ID was a great help. The trick for some blind users is knowing how to do the head movement when setting it up since you have to imagine you are looking at the center of a clock face, then turn your head/eyes up slightly to 12 and then slowly but not too slowly, rotate to 3, 6, 9 and back to 12. You have to do that a couple of times but the VoiceOver feedback is excellent.
Pay attention to the settings. You do not want Requires Attention on, because you have to be able to look at it pretty much at the same angle you were when setting it up. Not terribly useful. And right now, since I don't have a phone to refresh my memory on, there is another one in that category where just glancing at the phone will unlock it. You, of course, will have a passcode as well for times when Face ID isn't working. I always recommend turning off Raise To Wake under Settings, Display and Brightness. It eats battery because every movement of the phone wakes it up.
