Malcolm, I'm with you about the screen recognition. I was thinking if it was on, maybe it was messing him up. It could also be his technique of sliding, he may actually be sliding between the icons. I never recommend sliding around to find an icon/app. Flicking is far more reliable. If nothing helps, it will be time to call Apple Accessibility and do a screen share so they can see exactly what is happening when he touches his screen. Good luck,
