I agree. Closing all running apps and restarting your phone may help. Not sure about your phone locking “early”, as you say. I have noticed my phone doing some strange behavior since the iOS 14.4 update. Mostly, it locks up in the middle of doing something normal. The issue usually resolves itself in a moment or so. A few times, I have had to press the Side-button, and then unlock the phone and normal behavior resumes. Not sure if this is what you are experiencing.
