Yes, it is hard to get back, if you make a successful answer to the second. Yet, I now can make a three-way call, could add more, but haven't had occasion for more than a few three-way calls.

That is one reason why I like to use the Apple Earpods for longer calls, if another call comes in all I have to do is press the Answer/Hangup button (the middle section of the remote on the headset) and it will switch to the other call. But for those times when I don't have the Earpods connected finding the Hold and Answer button is not so difficult, As was suggested, make sure you pull your phone away from your ear and make sure the screen is active, then touch about the middle of the screen left to right but towards the bottom of the phone and a swipe or two should get you to the correct button.
