One relatively easy way is to enable the assistive touch feature in the
disability section of settings. it will put a virtual home button on your
screen at all times. You then double tap it and you will get several options
like device home and notifications. If you want the app switcher you double tap
this home button and double tap device and more and then app switcher. Once you
activate the assistive touch feature, the virtual home button is most likely
somewhere on the bottum of your screen.
There is another way to activate the home button by sliding up on the screen,
but I have never gotten this to work for me. I prefer the assistive touch
feature.
