Hi Kevin, This is not in "Preferences" and you don't have to take any drastic steps in any Windows configurations.
1. Make sure your iPhone is connected (not necessary if you have WiFi syncing enabled). 2. Start iTunes, if you use WiFi syncing it will take a while before your iPhone shows up under Devices 3. Go to your iPhone and with the Summary tab checked which is the default, tab all the way past the name, where it talks about restoring and backup and the first option under "Options" is Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected". Check the checkbox, tab to "Apply" and activate it. Next time you connect your iPhone iTunes should open. By the way, iTunes will not open unless you physically connect your iPhone.
