Thanks all for the input.

I did some wood working when I was in junior high school back in
1973-5, and at that time I had access to a 6ft ssteel tape measure
with 1/8 inch marks for the first six inches and 1 inch marks up to 1
foot then marks every 6 inches after that, and a combination square
with 1/8 marks along the 1ft blade.

I don't currently have any power tools or much in the way of hand
tools either but I have a couple of projects in mind so I am going to
be making some investments inequipment it sounds like.

Nice to hear of so many blind wood workers.
