Anna, and everyone, We successfully unlocked our se phones tonight, and here
are the instructions for anyone that would like to unlock their phone or
phones. here's the instructions, and if you need help, don't hessitate to
ask:
instructions for unlocking an iphone with sim card method
Note, these instructions are for unlocking iphones.
Before you follow these instructions, you need to contact your carrier to
ask them to unlock your phone.
If they say yes, and your phone is an iphone then the carrier will contact
apple, and we believe the next email you receive is from apple, in which you
will receive unlock information,
including codes that you might need. Actually in our emails that we
received, it gave instructions of 2 ways to unlock the phone. As a rule they
want you to wait at least 72 hours after receiving the emails with the
unlock information before unlocking your phone. this is in order to make
sure the apple servers have got the right information on them.
Step 1
Pop the sim card out of the phone that you want to unlock,
The sim card will be located on the right edge of the phone if it is a
iphone se.
It might be on the right edge on other iphones, but not having another model
I don't have thaat information. This is how you'll know when you find the
sim card,
There will be a tiny hole, so small
that you'll need a paper clip or even something smaller to put
in the hole. Make sure the phone is sturdy in your hand or on it's edge on
something sturdy,
Unfold the paper clip a little so it will insert into the hole.
push down on the paper clip. Don't worry, it will take a little pressure,
but you'll hear a tiny pop, that's the sim card tray that is holding the sim
card, releasing.
Next, very carefully slide it out, it wil come all the way out.
The sim card and the tray is so tiny, it would be best to do this on
something in case you accidentally drop the tray or sim card.
This way if you do this over a table for example if you accidentally dropped
the sim card or tray, you would be able to easily find it on the table.
The sim card and tray only works one way, so make sure you have the tray and
the sim card correct before inserting it back into the phone.
If you pay attention to what you're doing, you won't make a mistake
because it's all keyed to work a certain way. If you do have problems you
could always call for help.
Now for step 2
Take the sim card out of the other iphone that's on a different cell carrier
network,
step3
insert this sim card into the phone you want to unlock.
the phone will say, activation required. you might need to use your finger
to read that, if it doesn't say it right away.
Then find the dismiss button, double tap the dismiss button
As soon as you double tap on the dismiss button, if all is successful the
phone will say
set up, update completed. your iphone was updated successfuly,
there's just a few more steps to do and you'll be done.
then you'll have a continue button, and tap on continue,
then you might here the phone say back button, and the phone will continue
to say, that it might take a few minutes to update your iphone. In our
experience it took less than a minute to get done.
Then it's all done and everything goes to your main screen, and you'll find
that you're on the network of the other carrier, and that way you'll know
your phone is unlocked.
now You can pop either cards in your phone and if everything went well,
either card in your phone would work on either carrier.
Since at this time we don't have itunes installed anywhere this was really
quick and easy, but the guy that did it, my Wayne, he's a good hardwhere
man. Me, Arlene, I would have been hessitant to do this operation.
If you decide to do this, if you need help, don't hessitate to ask.
Arlene

Subject: Re: going through the process of unlocking a phone
Hi all,
Is there a way to find out whether a phone is unlocked or not? I bought mine
from Apple last fall, specifying AT&T as the carrier. It's an iPhone X. I
seem to remember hearing that these phones came unlocked, but I'm not sure.
I'd rather not have to do the restore from backup if it's not necessary.
Best,
Anna
