Thanks, Sieghard - I've checked and I then changed text tone to None and then back to the default tone and, as I did that, the phone pinged properly. But when a friend texted me moments later, there was no sound. I've tried s soft reboot and a hard reboot, I've checked volume levels in Settings--Sounds but still no joy. Music plays but no sounds when typing nor when text messages are sent or received. Harry
