Yes, when the iOS 10 was dropped. One of those new feature was called the Slide Over. Originally, it was thought to only work for the iPad family but that is not the case. It does work on the smaller family. Least when I had done my testing with the iPhone 6s and the 7 models. All one have to do is open an app. Now open another app. Do a four fingers swipe from the left side of the screen to the right. This will now let you Slide Over to the previous app that was open. Touch any where on that screen for that app. Now you can Slide Over back in doing a four fingers swipe from the right to the left.
