Hi paul, When you do a back-up, everything should be backed up, especially if you transfer purchases first. However, i definitely recommend backing up to iCloud as well, just in case something goes wrong with the iTunes backup. Last fall, ,my purchases weren't transferred to iTunes for some reason, even though I had told iTunes to transfer purchases, so I had to restore from my iCloud backup instead.
