Understood, but maybe I'm not doing a good job of making my points.

People should definitely report problems with the apps they've purchased and request a refund if it isn't accessible. Apple has the discretion to grant these refunds and has obviously done it in the past.

People have stated or implied that Apple's return policy allows you to get refunds for aps that don't turn out to be accessible. This is not stated anywhere in Apple's return policy or their terms and conditions for the iTunes store in the US or North America. In fact, the exact opposite is stated, i.e. all sales are final.

Getting a refund because Apple chooses to grant one is much different than Apple codifying this in their return policy or their terms and conditions. No one should assume these refunds are automatic, and no one should think that Apple is obligated to refund the purchase of an app that doesn't turn out to be accessible.

IMHO, we're doing iPhone users a disservice by spreading misinformation that Apple includes the refund of nonaccessible apps in their return policy or their T's and C's. I sure wouldn't want some blind person to take a chance on an app thinking they can always get a refund if it doesn't turn out to be accessible and then end up talking to the wrong person at Apple and not getting that purchase refunded.

Christopher,

meanwhile, let's use it wisely and not dispute it.

The web page I referred to at
http://store.apple.com/us/help/returns_refund talks about the US refund policy,
and it does state that there's a 14 day return policy, but it also explicitly
says this does not include electronic downloads. In fact, here's what it says
with respect to that point:

There are some items, however, that are ineligible for return, including:

      Opened software*
      Electronic Software Downloads
Software Up-to-Date Program Products (software upgrades)
      Apple Store Gift Cards
Apple Developer Connection Products (Membership and Technical Support)
      Apple Print Products

*You can return software, provided that it has not been installed on any
computer. Software that contains a printed software license may not be returned
if the seal or sticker on the software media packaging is broken.

I Googled but couldn't find Apple's return policy for Europe, but I did find a
bunch of articles like the one at
http://9to5mac.com/2014/12/29/app-store-itunes-refunds-eu/ where it does refer
to Apple's change in their return policy in Europe to include App Store
purchases. It also states in this article that the return policy in North
America has not changed, and that all sales are final except at the discretion
of Apple.

BTW, the two hour window to return apps purchased from Google Play is not just
in Europe but covers the US if not the rest of the world as well.

Hi Christopher,

As of November last year Apple changed their terms and conditions in European
union countries to allow for a 14-day return policy which is in line with what
the EU recommends. You can find this easily by Googling it. Remember that many
members on this list are from Europe so they may believe this is true here as
well which it is not. Having said this, an article I read about this pointed
out that Apple did indeed implement such a policy, but they essentially
circumvent it by also saying that refunds only apply if the content has not yet
been downloaded. Of course most Apple digital content begins to download once
you buy it so it appears to be for cosmetic reasons only.

The article also points out that on the Google Play store in EU countries you
have 2 hours to request a refund and 2 weeks for music subscriptions.

I should also mention that I have received refunds for 2 apps which I found
were not accessible after asking for it nicely and explaining the problem, but
it is definitely a decision the iTunes Store support people make on a per case
bases and I would not count on it. I also doubt it would apply to an app like
Talking Atlas which the developer has specifically made accessible even though
some may find it unacceptable that they have to turn off Voiceover or something
along those lines. At some point a couple of weeks ago I saw a message where
somebody had purchased KNFB Reader and apparently they couldn't get good
results and were asking if they could get a refund. I doubt this would be
granted since this was obviously user error since the app works great for
everybody else.

Sieghard

Maybe you could provide a link to a page where these terms and conditions you
refer to are spelled out. As I said, I pointed to Apple's own page on their
official refund policy, where it states that electronic dowloads are not
covered by their refund policy.

In addition, the page at
http://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/us/terms.html says:

All sales and rentals of products are final.

Prices for products offered via the Services may change at any time, and the
Services do not provide price protection or refunds in the event of a price
reduction or promotional offering.

If a product becomes unavailable following a transaction but prior to download,
your sole remedy is a refund. If technical problems prevent or unreasonably
delay delivery of your product, your exclusive and sole remedy is either
replacement or refund of the price paid, as determined by Apple.

You may be able to get a refund from Apple for an App Store purchase,
but this is at the discretion of Apple and is not part of their
official refund policy. The link I posted was to the Apple site, and
it clearly says that electronic downloads of software are not covered
under Apple's return policy. I would strongly encourage anyone who
purchases an app which doesn't meet your needs and which isn't
accessible to report it using the process you point to and request a
refund, but I wouldn't assume that you can just blithely download an
app and get a refund if you don't find it accessible.

There's some confusion over searching in the App Store. If you
double tap the search button then what you say may be true, but
this isn't the same as looking for the suggestion that you get when

Also, the two week return policy you refer to doesn't apply to
downloads from the App Store. Here's a link to Apple's official
return policy http://store.apple.com/us/help/returns_refund

Keep in mind apple gives you two weeks to try a product, but I
think the price is to high and on top of that in app purchases for
a trivia game? For that price you should get both.

Just my opinion.

Several have asked this, including me. And no, none of us want
to pay that much until someone says it works as well as they say
on the site, and even on Applevis where the link first showed up.
So we're all looking for a volunteer with £30 to spare for trying
this product.
Pity we couldn't all gift a proportion of the cost to a volunteer
to try it and report back publically. I've not tried gifting to
know how much control of amount one has; but if ten of us sent
£3/$5 each, it would be worth that to know the answer maybe?

Hello,
I just found this app in the App Store. I was wondering if anyone
has had any experience with it. Is it truly accessible? I don't
want to buy it until I find some one who has had experience with
it since it is so expensive.
Thanks for any help.
