I think the ending of a lcall is the most annoying/tricky part of the phone and it really should be easier!
Now I know I've got good advice from others on list and I have to follow it if I'm going to succeed, which I do now, but I don't like it. I'll tell you what I know here. First, the easiest possible way is to be wearing a bluetooth headset so you can answer with a button and end with the same one. However, if you're like me, you just don't want one all the time. I do however make sure I have one when I'm out. It solves a lot of problems. Now here's what I was fairly recently told and had to go back to basics to learn to do this again and stick with it! You need to decide whether you're holding the phone up to your ear or not and make it definite one way or the other. When you remove the phone from your ear, there will be a lag whilst the speech/sounds come through the speaker. The easiest way when ending a call is to remove the phone from your ear so that you can hear the speaker sounds. At that point either do a two-fingered double tap somewhere above the home button, or slide one fingerup from the home button and listen for the "End Call". You may have to ensure you have the volume high enough and, once you havfe, try to keep it there. You can also end a call by pressing the sleep/wake button, but it's not fullproof and I don't tend to use this most of the time, unless I'm caught with the phone in my hand and no headset on while I'm out, then I sometimes go for it and try to get rid of the call that way. I hope this might help a bit. Going back to earlier versions of the phone software, I recall the answer button was on the left (at bottom) and the end call was on the right. I much preferred this. ----- Original Message ----- From: Deidre Muccio To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 14, 2015 1:10 PM Subject: RE: phone basics Ioana and Alex I tested calling myself from a different line to see if when I’m on the home page all would work as easily as if I’d called from a contact or the phone app. It does. The truth seems to e that sometimes the phone is less responsive and predictable than at other times. I realize that the keypad won’t come up until the phone is answered at the other end or a message machine picks up. Once again, sometimes the keypad is spoken immediately and other times it is not. Likewise, the double tap does not often work to end a call nor answer a call. Are my gestures imprecise? Sometimes they might be but overall I can operate the phone quite precisely. I’m using a 6. You can do a 2 finger double-tap. Of course, if you want the other options you have to find the buttons after all. Also, when you make a call, the keypad does not appear until the line is answered, I think. So, while it's ringing, there's no keypad but, ones there's something on the other end of the line, you should see a keypad as long as vo is on. If this does not work I'm not shure what else is going on. If you pause while not holding the Home Button, Siri will assume you're done and will start trying to act on whatever you said. If you have the Home Button down, though, you can stop speaking for as long as you like, then speak more, and Siri will keep listening the whole time. I'm not following what you mean by the Phone App. Whether that app is open or not, a keypad will always appear during a call unless you do something to dismiss it (lock the device or hit the Home Button, for instance). I also notice no lag when using VoiceOver during a call, and I'm on an iPhone 5. I don't remember what device you have, but perhaps it is an older one? -- The following information is important for all members of the viphone list.
