now I change it back to 640 (root:shadow) and put for test all these users: qmaild, qmaill, qmailp, qmailq, qmailr, qmails, vpopmail in the shadow group, but it doesnt work. whats that??? thomas > -----Original Message----- > From: Koenig, Thomas [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Wednesday, May 11, 2005 10:57 AM > To: vchkpw@inter7.com > Subject: [vchkpw] vchkpw-smtp: system user shadow entry not found > > > hello, > > I try to use smtp-auth for system user but I get: > 535 authorization failed (#5.7.0) > > if I use the same user/password for the pop3 login, it works fine. > > I compile vpopmail with: > ./configure --enable-passwd --enable-logging=v > so vchkpw can read the /etc/passwd. > > /var/log/mail tells me: > May 11 10:43:57 mailgate vpopmail[17957]: vchkpw-smtp: system user > shadow entry not found xxxx:127.0.0.1 > > where is my mistake - or do you need any additional informations? > > > > > thanks in advance > -- > Thomas Koenig > > >
