hmmm,

I found something....
if I set the /etc/shadow to 644 it runs, but it's a big
security hole.

now I change it back to 640 (root:shadow) and put for test all these
users: qmaild,qmaill,qmailp,qmailq,qmailr,qmails,vpopmail in the
shadow group, but it doesnt work.

whats that???

Subject: [vchkpw] vchkpw-smtp: system user shadow entry not found

hello,

I try to use smtp-auth for system user but I get:
535 authorization failed (#5.7.0)

if I use the same user/password for the pop3 login, it works fine.

I compile vpopmail with:
./configure --enable-passwd --enable-logging=v
so vchkpw can read the /etc/passwd.

/var/log/mail tells me:
May 11 10:43:57 mailgate vpopmail[17957]: vchkpw-smtp: system user
shadow entry not found xxxx:127.0.0.1

where is my mistake - or do you need any additional informations?

thanks in advance -- Thomas Koenig
