Let's label this email thread as dealing with qmail email address sub extentions. Or for short --enable-qmail-ext
Qmails default behavior is to treat: [EMAIL PROTECTED] to be the same email address as [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is how ezmlm works, and how Variable Envelope Return Paths (VERP for short) works. Most people don't know about this, since it's not how sendmail or some other MTA's work by default. So in vpopmail 5.0 we enable the system admin to configure one or the other behavior. The default is to work like sendmail works. --enable-qmail-ext=n (default) Turning on qmail extenstions --enable-qmail-ext=y means that [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] will go to [EMAIL PROTECTED] email account. However today I found a list of users that have been recieving mail at addresses like [EMAIL PROTECTED] I realize what the problem is but I am looking for some suggestions on workarounds that I can put into place for just these few customers. I have already notified everyone that we cannot support this but I really need to continue to support the few customers that have been using the addresses. > > I am using vpopmail-4.10.24 compiled with MySQL support. > > Any suggestions on work arounds would be appreciated. The work around is to pick the value of --enable-qmail-ext to have the emails processed as you want. Ken > > Thanks, > > Joe Modjeski > Systems Administrator > CommSpeed >
