I don't think this will work due to Microsoft's anti-piracy logic.

I recall that Windows takes a "snapshot" of the hardware environment
when it's installed.  After installation, whenever booted, it compares
the stored environment with what it sees during boot.  Different
environment means no boot.  It looks at the amount of RAM, number
and kind of disks, MAC addresses and such.  This environment snapshot
is encrypted and combined with the registration key too.  This info
is kept in the Microsoft Mother Ship and is also checked when you do
security updates.  I think "Genuine Advantage" does the checking.

I wonder if it would be possible to mimic your initial hardware
environment with vbox?  If so, this would be really bad news for
Microsoft since one pirated image could be run at many locations.

Discretion may be the better part of valor here, it will be easier
to give up and get a legit copy of Windows.  Win-XP can still be
purchased, I bought one at Frys for $120-US a couple of months
ago (it was for work).
