Using a physical partition/disk should be in the manual. Before resigning to wiping your Linux installation altogether (but be prepared to restore/re-install, just in case) you might try just freeing up space on the disk in order to shrink the linux partition and create a new empty partition for Windows to restore into. You might need to choose some sort of "Custom" option during the Windows install/restore. If all else fails, you can just follow your original plan to install/restore windows from the recovery media and then restore/install Linux. b.
