The pid of the master process never change (you have to kill the master to
get a new pid) and harakiri kill only the workers. It must be another kind
of problem. Can you post a full log of a transaction when the pid changes
but the pidfile is not touched ? Are you under some kind of process
manager ?

Have you tried with a 0.9.7-rc* version ?
