Before issuing a consensus call, the first question is to Rob:
can you propose concrete text changes that you want to see in the draft?
Alright then, get on with it. I listed the changes I wanted, and cited
the Unicode Consortium and ICANN.
I didn't even need to cite the WHATWG, who seem fairly pragmatic. What's
the issue?
Rob,
Leaving aside the merits or demerits of your proposed text, which I have
not yet read, I must say that I have found your tone throughout this
discussion to be simply appalling.
You characterized your exchange with Vint Cerf as "like arguing with a
teenager".
You alleged that other WG participants are engaged in "pointless
fist-pounding" driven by a desire to "assert authority" instead of
accepting that perhaps they felt they were raising legitimate concerns.
You claimed that WG participants are "a bunch of guys being jerks that
also think they are in charge of the internet".
And now you are demanding that the WG chairs "get on with it".
The IETF anti-harrassment policy [1] states:
"The IETF strives to create and maintain an environment in which people
of many different backgrounds are treated with dignity, decency, and
respect. Those who participate in the IETF are expected to behave
according to professional standards and demonstrate appropriate
workplace behavior."
I am not sure how others perceive you, but to my mind your behavior has
been arrogant, pushy, flippant, unprofessional, and disrespectful.
