The AD9361 calibrations are described in great detail in the first 15 pages
or so of the AD9361 Reference Manual (ADI UG-570).   The TX QEC calibration
in particular takes a long time-- something like 100K RF clock cycles. You
can disable the various calibrations by mucking around with the register
map.
