Are you plotting a absolute magnitude or just the magnitude in real/imag axis ? If this is the magnitude for real or imag signal alone, then the result makes sense. Since the cable length and several factors will result in different projection value of the total magnitude in each real and imag axis. The amplitude is only the same for the absolute magnitude.
