In the specific case I mention below, this is the source from the jsp:
<link rel="icon" type="image/x-icon" href="<c:url
value="/static/images/icons/favicon.ico"/>" />
I'm not a jsp programmer, but I'm betting it has something to do with the
<c:url /> encapsulation.
