I dont as a rule use swap,  I have ~ 5 GByte of free disk space.  I will put   
another GByte or RAM in and give it a whirl.  Unfortunaely    the current 
setup    uses 800 MHz ddr2 ram and the extra ram  available is only 533 MHz 
ddr2 so I suspect   memory-fetches will throttle back to 533 MHz.
