Hindsight is wonderful. I started by assuming it would be relatively
easy to do what I needed to do using standard Tomcat functionality.

Jespa is only a couple of hundred quid, but there's also effort involved
in getting management to raise POs etc, so it's not quite as trivial as
it could be. The decision isn't always the developer's.

Same as many of us probably already do - consultancy and support.
