Not directly related to what your current issue is, but just as
information : http://www.ioplex.com/jespa.html
I've seen that, though it has a license cost associated with it which
rules it out as an immediate option.
Not that I want to play salesman for jespa, but sometimes the reasoning
behind some decisions puzzles me.
As I recall, Jespa costs 400$ for a user-unlimited, time-unlimited
license. 25 users is cheaper, and below that it's free.
Just the time you already spent on this list debugging your current
issue seems to me worth more than that. Not even counting the time of
the other people that have been answering you.
And it does handle groups.
I may go down the jCIFS route,
...
You certainly should NOT do that for any new development. The jCIFS
filter is no longer developed nor supported, and it will not work in any
current Windows Domain setup, where the default security is higher than
NTLM v1.
I am a big fan of Open Source software. My business depends on it to a
large extent. At the same time, I feel that when some developer creates
a really nice and effective piece of software, and the price at which
they sell it is reasonable, and in any case lower than the expense it
would take me and/or my employers and/or clients to recreate the same,
it is worth it, and just, to reward the developer.
After all, if all software was Open Source and never charged for, what
would we all be doing for a living ?
