Hi,

Since I want to perform this automatically from my code I'm running the
command from the command line. I can't use the tomcat5w.exe program for
this.

Why aren't you using the supported method of updating service parameters
with the tomcat5w.exe program?  (Note the "w" in the program name.)  You
can enter heap sizes and other command-line parameters on the Java tab.
