Yeah, first remove this crap linux-repackaged "Tomcat" and get a real (and up-to-date) version from the Tomcat web site. You should also get a non-dark-ages version of Java while you're at it :-) Install, configure and test. If you're still having problems, post the error message(s) *from the log files* with the relevant server.xml parts...
