Those instructions are: - in the file that needs to be edited - right next to the part that needs to be edited - in a dedicated comment block to separate them from other comments in the file. And when those instructions aren't followed, there will be a nice message in the log file explaining what the problem is. As you will find when you look at the log files on your system.
