Yum has clearly stated that Package 4:perl-5.8.8-43.el5_11.x86_64 already installed and latest version but --> Running transaction check ---> Package perl.i386 4:5.8.8-43.el5_11 set to be updated --> Finished Dependency Resolution Now how does this crap help you, given that by asking the original question I obviously declined ============================================================================================================================================================== Package Arch Version Repository Size ============================================================================================================================================================== Installing: perl i386 4:5.8.8-43.el5_11 updates 12 M Transaction Summary ============================================================================================================================================================== Install 1 Package(s) Upgrade 0 Package(s) Total download size: 12 M Is this ok [y/N]: Exiting on user Command Complete!?
ah look how important the full output is - it's still missing the first line with the prompt but better (and yes i do not trust any user not strip some maybe helpful output until i see the prompt and command on top)
looking 2 seconds on the output below (you stripped originally) and i see you system want to install i386 packages on a x86_64 setup and the question is: why
what says "rpm -qa | grep -i perl | sort" and "rpm -qa | grep i386"?
