Sounds like you are using amavisd-new. Quarantined mail messages can be either released from a quarantine and delivered to recipients without re-checking for viruses and spam by using a command 'amavisd-release', or fed back to mailer's input side and re-checked for viruses and spam by a 'amavisd-requeue' command.
