I just checked it out on dnsstuff.com (which is where I should have also 
checked earlier but sleep depervation...).  It's also failing there as well.  
You might have a cached record.
 
How I am searching:

Searching for updates.spamassassin.org A record at b.root-servers.net 
[192.228.79.201]: Got referral to TLD2.ULTRADNS.NET. (zone: org.) [took 45 ms] 
Searching for updates.spamassassin.org A record at TLD2.ULTRADNS.NET. 
[204.74.113.1]: Got referral to b.auth-ns.sonic.net. (zone: spamassassin.org.) 
[took 3 ms] 
Searching for updates.spamassassin.org A record at b.auth-ns.sonic.net. 
[64.142.88.72]: Reports that no A records exist. [took 47 ms] Response: No A 
records exist for updates.spamassassin.org. [Neg TTL=3600 seconds] Details: 
b.auth-ns.sonic.net. (an authoritative nameserver for spamassassin.org.) says 
that there are no A records for

As far as I know, DNS is working fine for the channel (tested from random work
machine):

$ host -t txt 1.1.3.updates.spamassassin.org
1.1.3.updates.spamassassin.org descriptive text "555165"
