We used to be plagued by pornographic spam, usually obfuscated. 
Unexpectedly, to me anyway, greylisting virtually eliminated it.

I had the same experience. On my small site, greylisting worked wonders 
against porn spam.
It has had hardly any effect on stock spam, though, which strikes me as 
odd. Stock spammers
are smarter than porn spammers? Who knew ...  At any rate, FuzzyOCR is 
doing a good job on those.
