There are a number of options. Volatile and backports are probably the
safest. Braver souls can run unstable or testing (if they know how to
install it without bringing planet earth along with it). And others may
choose to completely remove the Debian package and install it from source or
CPAN. Just don't mix installation methods. Don't install from source or CPAN
unless you either intend on doing it that way from now on, or you have the
ability to find all the pieces and remove them. Debian will favor an install
from source/CPAN but SpamAssassin may find and use pieces from the Debian
package if it exists. Not good.
