I'll see if I can get the MTA to log when a message arrives with no Message-ID but does have a Resent-Message-ID. I can then compare what is logged by the MTA with the SA log. Not sure if the MTA would, by default, log the Resent-Message-ID if no Message-ID was present. I'll see if I can find out, and perhaps suggest it if it doesn't.
