First: changing images programmatically  makes it necessary for them to send 
individual images rather than one image to 30,000 recipients.  That alone 
would slow them down.

Second: If Razor can work for pure text (far easier to manipulate and
create minor variations), then it should have the same capability for 
binaries.

So your dismissal of razor is overly broad, and if taken to its
logical conclusion would suggest razor is totally useless.
