I just realized you may be referring to the "domain tasting" or "domain kiting" issue, where millions of domains are churned every 5 days in an unethical click revenue game by some registrars: http://www.bobparsons.com/DomainKiting.html But in any case many spammy doamins are between 0 and 5 days old.
