The theory is pretty simple.  The only problem I've seen is that the
"small on-disk database" can get pretty big on busy accounts (mine is
currently about 9MB).

My advice is to leave it on and watch what it does.  Don't be
concerned if it gives small negative scores to some spam messages and
small positive scores to non-spam.  The only time you really need to
worry about it is if the AWL score causes a ham message to be marked
as spam or a spam message to be marked as ham.

If, like mouss, you decide you don't like what it's doing, turn it
off.  Otherwise, just let it run.  It seems to do a good job for me.
