The only time I have seen something like this was when I accidently left my email server as an open relay.  I had litterly 1000's and 1000's of emails queued for delivery.

Have you looked at what the content of your queue is? Is it a lot of bounce
messages?

No, 99% look like this:

24 Oct 2005 10:14:22 GMT  #951632  19271  <>
        local   [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I replaced the real domain with somedomain.com. It says either local or
remote.
