hi all,

running SA v3.2.0-r232569 on OSX 10.4.2., invoking it via Exim 4.53RC1 'exiscan-ner'.

i'm currently slogging thru getting all my perms ironed out across apps ...

on delivery of a message to the exim server, the message arrives, but spamd debug-logging reports:

Sep 15 22:29:54 server spamd[5165]: bayes: locker: safe_lock: cannot create lockfile /var/Settings/SA/.spamassassin/bayes.mutex: Permission denied

exim is running as user:group = "exim":"exim"

and perms on the SA dirs are:

-rwxrwxr-x 1 exim exim 28 Sep 8 16:15 /var/Settings/SA/.spamassassin/bayes.mutex
drwxrwxr-x 8 exim exim 272 Sep 8 15:39 /var/Settings/SA/.spamassassin/
drwxrwxr-x 31 exim exim 1054 Sep 15 19:23 /var/Settings/SA/
drwxrwxr-x 20 exim exim 680 Sep 9 16:34 /var/Settings/

googling on ' bayes.mutex "Permission denied" ' , there's not much at all :-(

but, per:

        http://www.mailarchives.org/list/spam-assassin/msg/2005/00174

i learn:

" ... that part *needs* to fail. It's not a permissions problem or a bug. It's actualy a design feature that is intended to prevent database corruption ... "

can anyone verify that this is in fact true, or if i've got a config problem?

thx!

richard
