Jeff, Thanks for the reply... I am happy to say: PROBLEM SOLVED! I was so happy to see this: debug: RBL: success for 12 of 12 queries There WAS a .resolv.conf file in $HOME that had the BAD nameserver as the first one. I guess Net::DNS does not go to the 2nd listed nameserver if the first one doesn't work. I switched the two and saved that file, tried it again and it worked. Hopefully someone else can learn from this because the docs are a little deceiving, as you said it says in the docs that the order is checked like: /etc/resolv.conf $HOME/.resolv.conf ./.resolv.conf However it was checking like this: $HOME/.resolv.conf /etc/resolv.conf I've submitted this information to the current maintainer of Net::DNS. Any changes I was making to /etc/resolv.conf were being ignored. Changes to $HOME/.resolv.conf were being accepted. Thanks to all who have helped me: Matt Kettler, Kevin Peuhkurinen, Justin Mason, Stuart Johnston, Thomas Bolioli, Chris Santerre, Theo Van Dinter, and Jeff Chan. Hope I didn't forget anyone, but this list is a GREAT resource. Hope someone else who had my problem will find this thread! - Austin
